David was raised in Galax, VA, and graduated from high school in 1983. He enrolled in the Army and proudly served for 21 years. During that time, he earned his Bachelors of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 1992 and his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies in 1997. He received specialty training in Emergency Medicine in 2001. In 2003 he was selected to be the Director of the Physician Assistant Emergency Medicine Specialty Training Program. After retirement in 2004, he chose to practice in the field of Gastroenterology and continued to do so until November, 2015 at which time he began working with Seawind Medical Clinic. He married his wife, Pat in 1996. They have two sons, Ryan and Taylor.
